Taiwan is a pawn in the battle between the US and China for global influence. That is a terrible place to be, as the Ukraine war is showing us.
We should all hope that people take a step back. There is no reason why China and the US can't have peaceful cooperation. It is true that semiconductors are a flash point, but China has never had a problem with exporting valuable products to other countries. The West needs to realize that the future involves actual diplomacy. Somehow, the neocons keep going back to World War II as the great origin story for international relations. Internal problems and our feckless leaders are a far greater threat to the US than Russi…

Thank you for starting the index with RIWI. I notice that the scale goes from -2 to +2, and even with the surge we are at .2 at the highest. Doesn't that indicate a fairly neutral sentiment?
