Might some so called russian backed separatists be switching allegiance? Impressive victory to Ukraine. Russian army continues to fight brainlessly!

So what are the early Ukrainian victory trades?

Are you suggesting that rather than fight the mercenaries, Ukraine have decided to buy them?

I'm wondering if a possible explanation is that the US leadership predicts an inevitable war with China and Russia. So they prefer to weaken Putin by draining his military and political power. More so, leaving China out of the conflict while weakening their most potent ally and strengthening Nato.

So maybe US leadership is not that dumb, and they're playing their cards quite well?!

Those positive comments about Trump would never make it to U.S. news media outlets or should I say propaganda outlets, referring to both sides. It is what it is, no illusions.

Thank you for the interesting analysis and commentary, including the comments below. My wonder is what is the best outcome? This appears grave in all cases.

Hi Bo, Thank you. The problem is that with all the players having crossed the Rubicon, the crisis has reached a point of no return. The US cannot back down without losing all of its international credibility and Putin cannot back down without risking his regime. In Germany realists are out and the idealists are in. France has lost its voice of reason in the sea of moral indignation and outrage. If you can come up with a benign scenario, do let me know. David

Are the US missiles in Poland a response to the lack of US hypersonic missile development ?

Hi Robert, Yes, this is my hypothesis. The only way for the US to counter Russian advance in hypersonic missiles is to place short-term missiles in Ukraine on the Russian border. This is why NATO membership for Ukraine took on so such importance over the past 3 years as news got out that the US is behind in hypersonic.
