Fascinating interview. This makes me quite pessimistic about the Ukraine war from a Western perspective. If special interests make more money from a war, the war will keep going on. The victims here (the soldiers fighting, and consumers screwed by higher prices) have no say.
This makes me wonder a lot about technology imports. Clearly the US wants to control semi trade. But if China is willing to buy oil with a dark fleet, why wouldn't they ship Russia all the semiconductors they want. Russia doesn't need the 7 nanometer stuff - 14 nm to 20 nm is fine for military/industrial purposes. That's Russia's real weakness, and a potential profit center for China. The more chips China produces, the better…
CTC, As I said many months ago, Biden will be remembered by future historians for having pushed America's two most formidable adversaries into each other's arms. Russia will supply China with commodities and China will supply Russia with manufactured goods and chips. The two will cooperate in the development of civilian aircrafts (to take on Boeing and GE), arms, AI, energy, and quantum computing... Russians know that they are not welcome in the US and Europe (just like Chinese know they are not longer welcome in the US). So they are coming to Israel, heading to UAE, and to China.
