Hi David, I already shared my view on this topic in another thread. I did not get the name of the "expert", but just listening to his first point about bitcoin's scarcity you realize it is either very misleading or this guy does not understand anything. Saying bitcoin is not scarce because anyone can copy it or create another digital coin, is like saying USD is worth nothing because I can have a bill worth a trillion Zimbabwean Kwatcha... Then his explanation about lightning network being a reduction of decentralization... I guess he can do a bit more research there or at least explain why he believes this. I could go with any of his points and with less than 5mn research show that…

Yeah I totally agree, it is difficult to put a value on bitcoin and no one can tell you its fair value, and bitcoin is not more successful at $100k than at $10k, which can be difficult to understand for a traditional investor. Bitcoin will be a success, irrespective of price, if it becomes widely used and accepted. Then people believe that due to its scarcity and expected increasing demand, price will go up. About correlation with other digital currencies, it is more a causation. Bitcoin drags the market with it. When bitcoin drops, the whole market follows. The reciprocal is less likely. Although I do agree that "sensational news" like hacks or defi protocol abuses also negatively affect bitcoin price.

Thank you Linda. Yes, time will tell. By the way, I am not predicting the demise of Bitcoin. I think it will stick around and might even prosper the next time central banks go back to money printing (2024?). However, I think after this crash it will take many years before a new generation of fools get sucked in again. D

Dave..

I suspect from some of your past comments in this forum you are searching for the Holy Grail of financial information, for the truly interested people like myself. What you are serving up is so unique you are in a universe by yourself. I've heard many people talk about Bitcoin both pro and con... you have a real gift of communication.... Keep it coming.

Thanks Pat. The goal is to try to make seemingly complex issues accessible to people who are interested on Wall Street and Main Street

David/John,

Would you be able to comment on Gold prices going forwards? I couldn't find the clip where you mentioned there could be short term headwinds but long term tailwinds. It looks like Gold is sitting at a long term support, but its failure to break it's 2020 high in March 2022 would typically be a bearish signal. How confident are macroinvestors that gold can avoid the volatility of the stock market and not fall in tandem with stocks/bonds?

Regards

Jeff

I think that chart is misleading because it is comparing Gold to nominal rates whereas Gold trades with real rates. What is basically shows is that inflation was fairly stable, and has now blown out.

As for when the Fed 'needs' to cut to zero, I think they already should because employment is about to crater. I don't think they will until after the election in November.
