if putin continues to advance which seems likely, the west will increase the sanctions- more banks- more oligarch and family pressure- more financial restriction ie scifts less tech shipments - how does erus recover with that deterioration or say the oligachs take out putin or the population revolts - how would that instability benetit the value of erus - is the only hope for erus that putin moves quickly and replaces the government - seems like the punishing sanctions would remain - what senerio supports a rally in erus
wonder if the recovery is a v bottom or a dead cat bounce-without continuation it wont come close to a 50% pull back of the total - but our market has some healthy albeit over priced companies with promise - erus is a group of companies suffering a potential increasing external strangle hold. biden has other motivations other than just suffering oil price increases and inflation pressures- nato and the remaining baltic countries are vigillant and bidens perception of strength within the polarized US is of concern and china and taiwan waiting in the wings makes being tentative very costly - if putin finds shame and isnt quite as awful and lowers his brutality a notch will erus sn…
Has he lost his marbles? Will his excuse for invading the Ukraine neighbours in the near future be that they threaten russian interests. The world needs to unite and do whatever it takes to stop this.
Will the Aussies and New Zealanders also be on our their own if China russia or anyone else wants to take over these countries.
Create a United Nations that can actually unite against this behaviour and be able to show strength and prevent war.
Start talking to China now and change the relationship to one of mutual respect verging on friendship. The alternative; continue to allow the relationship to degenerate to conflict and war. Sounds unbelievable, so did Syria, and Ukraine.
From what I read, if I understood it correctly, we just heard from the West that all kinds of sanctions are imposed except for energy export/imports and US is not planning to be involved militarily. What can the Ukrainians do then? fighting is meaningless other than inccurring massive cost from both sides? And if the probability of large scale war is lowered, it'd be a near term risk on?
The way I see it - not saying I know how long the Ukrainians will remain fighting. Ukrainians have nearly unlimited access to weapons and even missiles if that missile bombing of a Rostov airport was true, as long as they are not cut off from the border. Russia may seriously regret not cutting off the huge border to the west early, instead of going for Kiev. Ukraine needs to keep up the supply to the many fronts. Rumours are Putin is short of precision missiles as they rely on western components, same with the best aircraft and tanks. In theory the longer Ukraine survives, the more the relative balance tips, and then Putin has to resort to killing civilians,…
David, just to be clear , even with ERUS dropping today to 24, you think it’s a still a long play and can recover losses ?

Shanaka, at $24, ERUS is down 50% from the high whereas oil price is up 10% during the same period. In other words, I think ERUS is hugely undervalued given Russia is largely a oil and gas play. As long as the US oil production continues to suffer from ESG and US energy policy, Russia is becoming more rather than less important for the world economy
What is the possibility of ERUS being shut down by a ban on Russia assets by western countries?
